Tasting Notes
Selecting and Buying
Historically called bay salt or solar salt, its mineral content gives it a different taste from table salt, which is pure sodium chloride, usually refined from mined rock salt (halite) or from sea salt. Generally more expensive than table salt, it is commonly used in gourmet cooking and specialty potato chips, particularly the kettle cooked variety.
Preparation and Use
Sea salt is often used for food dishes where the flavor of the salt is really meant to stand out, such as with French fries, roasted sweet potatoes or some egg dishes
Conserving and Storing
Store in Sea Salt Shakers, Mason Jar, or Tupperware.
