When three o'clock chimes, I need coffee. This has been a pattern for me for quite some time in all aspects of my life -- kids, no kids, work, no work, school, no school. I don't really know why, but I get so sleepy around three o'clock in the afternoon.

It may be too early to speak about Spring down here, but it surely is on the way, as days are getting brighter and longer. Early mornings and nights remain chilly though; And one of the little pleasure of the season is not only to indulge in comforting dishes, but also enjoy hot beverage.

Do whatever you want! Add any different peppers you can think of. Purée your favorite greens. You can follow the basic method adding vegetables you prefer and come up with something unique and equally delicious.

Every time my fiancé and I go down to visit his family in NC, his dad ribs me about all the rednecks we come across. Like I’m some fish-out-of-water, ain’t never seen no rednecks before, “city girl.” I always have to remind him that I hail from East Tennessee where the moonshine flows steady and the rednecks are aplenty. Heck, I grew up learning all the versus of Rocky Top (yeah, there’s more than one and a chorus) and, when necessary, I can speak with more twang that Reese Witherspoon in Sweet Home Alabama. Don’t doubt my hillbilly street cred.

I can never forget the incident when I tried this for the first time, I just tried only for 1 cup of glass. I gave hubby to taste it which he thought it was offered to him fully and enjoyed it completely only later he realised noone else even tasted the kheer so whenever I make this I pull his leg with this incident :)

The moment I saw this on Vittles and Bits I got so excited and knew I had to try it. As a kid ( and rather shamelessly still as an adult) nothing is more awesome than an ice cold glass of chocolate milk. Whenever we go out for breakfast, we are always given raised eyebrows when we order milk instead of the usual coffee. I love milk with spaghetti, tacos, and pizza and will have a glass at least once a day. I guess it’s just something I never grew out of.

The weather is really confusing. It gets quite pleasant at night, but during the day its HOT and humid, making it impossible to do anything. And to have a house that has no AC, just swamp coolers to cool you off, the humidity can be your worst enemy.

As a brand ambassador for Keurig, I have had the opportunity to drink a lot of coffee this summer. For the first time I’ve tasted Iced Coffee and much to my surprise, I’m totally loving it. Actually the other day I was up until 2am because I love drinking my iced coffee (and the Keurig makes it too easy) a little too much! My current fave is just a light roast K-Cup with a little caramel syrup and a splash of cream. I love the flavor the cream adds, but do you want to know why I really add the cream? It just looks so cool right after its poured in! It’s like coffee cream art.

Combine rose sugar and mint leaves with 1/2 cup water and bring to a boil. Cook until sugar is dissolved. Add to iced tea to taste.

Last week, my husbands sister and her family visited from Vienna. I knew for a short trip, we would not eat at home much, but I had bought plenty of snacks to have on hand for when we were home. Including a ton of Georgia peaches. I may have overbought just a little, because I still had a handful of peaches left when the house emptied out. I saw a post on The Naptime Chef for Roasted Peach Lemonade. But I was exhausted from cleaning for three days, entertaining and then returning the house to normal. And its hotter than Hades in Atlanta, and I didn't want to turn on the oven.

It being Friday and all, the thought of an ice-cold glass of fruity sangria sounded like the perfect way to sit back, cool off, and usher in the dreadfully hot weekend ahead of us.

Its unbelievably tasty that my dad who hates tea cherished this drink and said "Wow" :)

It’s hot in Chicagoland today, so we’re glad to be heading to a pool party for the afternoon. Norps thought he’d throw together a simple, refreshing white Sangria to help cut through the heat.

When True would come home from college to visit her family for a couple of months during the summer, she and her mom would always have either a glass of wine or a cocktail at night. One evening, she came up with the idea of a cantaloupe margarita and True put together this amazing recipe that is simple, delicious, refreshing and healthy.

I sure do love watermelon. I also like cocktails, particularly refreshing cocktails with just the right amount of kick. I came up with the idea for this drink after having a watermelon and strawberry agua fresca at a local Mexican joint. The flavor was fantastic, but the texture of crushed watermelon and strawberry felt messy in my mouth – it was like sucking down a glass full of pulp. I decided to ditch the strawberry and clarify the watermelon using my centrifuge. It did a fantastic job of separating out the solids (including a very thin layer of “watermelon butter”, which was bright pink and a little tart) and leaving me with a clear juice that tastes very strongly of everyone’s favorite comedically-shashable fruit. To give the drink some edge and balance, I add a splash of tequila and a shot of hot sauce.

One day my Honey Girl and I decided to buck the heat and do our usual walk, and we both suffered mild heat stroke. So much for fortitude. We’re settling in to wait it out now. Taking refuge in movie theaters and libraries. Staring out the wiped window at the rising heat with our paws at the sills like dogs, like toddlers waiting for playtime. Here, thank the Lord for refreshment, is the sweet and ice-cold antidote.

These days, I prefer smoothies for breakfast over most anything else. They're healthy, satisfying, and COLD. But the only way a breakfast drink keeps me full is if I add oats and nuts to it. The texture is certainly not as smooth as a regular smoothie . . . but I sort of like chewing it down. If that makes any sense!

It all started about a month ago when I decided it was time to find out more about Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. Three different people mentioned it to me within the same week and I figured it was worth checking out. So I downloaded ABC's media player and began searching for episodes. But ads for The Bachelorette kept popping up.

I found an awesome deal on this as a birthday present for my husband last year. We used it quite a bit at the beginning, but somehow it got shy and snuck to the back of the top shelf of our pantry. Silly juicer. No need to be shy! Come out, come out, wherever you are! ;-)

I’m a fan of regular mojito’s but this version was divine! Maybe it was the fact that it was ridiculously hot outside and anything cold would have been refreshing, but it was G.O.O.D!! The drink is smooth (minus the mint leaves) and a little bit boozy. It’s the type of drink that could get you in trouble, say if you were sipping it poolside or while mindlessly floating on the lake. Lovin’ these warm, summer days! Need a new cocktail to serve this weekend, cool down with this one.

I remember a time when I had green smoothies every single day. It was a rule, whether I felt like one or not. Sure, healthwise, it was great for me, but it wasn’t as fun when, really…I wanted a piece of whole wheat toast with honey or a bowl of fruit instead. But now, because it’s not a hard and fast rule anymore, I am starting to be in love with green smoothies all over again. Especially now that I’m getting the greens from our own lovely garden..

The one thing that I wanted most to cool down with was a glass of sweet tea. Dolly Parton calls it "the house wine of the South".

Weddings are all about pairings-at the alter, on the dance floor and definitely between food and wine. Wedding cake and champagne are considered a classic pairing- but depending on the match, it may be a stumble rather than a glide.

Wanting to try out a simple recipe that showcased the flavors of the tea, I decided on keeping with the "Beat the Heat Series" and this is my second installment: Passionfruit Jasmine Green Tea Granita.

I feel like I’ve been quite obsessed with fennel this year. With each trip to the grocery store, I find myself standing above the fennel section admiring their curvaceous white bulbs and often lofty stalks adorned with fresh, fragrant fronds. Seriously… who could resist?

The only advantage I find during the Summer, is the lack of appetite for anything solid. I just feel like gulping down gallons and gallons of water, juice, shakes or any liquid based diet!
