Filled Peanut Butter Cookies

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup light corn syrup
Preparation

Combine flour, sugar, soda and salt in a small mixing bowl. Cut in shortening and peanut butter until particles are fine, using a low speed on mixer. Blend in corn syrup. Shape into a 2-inch roll. Wrap in waxed paper; chill. Slice 1/8 to 1/4-inch thick, using thin, sharp knife. Place half the slices on ungreased cookie sheet. Place 1/2 tsp peanut butter in center of each. Top with remaining slices: seal edges with fork, if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned on edges.
