Jane Ko

An aspiring nutrition student at the University of Texas at Austin who is trying to make the most out of her college career. I am a tour guide at the University’s Texas Tower and an mentor to freshmen students in college through the First Year Interest Group (FIG) program. I love baking for my friends, family, coworkers and students. They can definitely tell you that I keep them well fed. As for my boyfriend, who is the official tester of my treats, jokes that he would be butterball by now if it wasn’t for his fast metabolism.

Contrary to what I am majoring in, flavor and richness should not be sacrificed for healthier aspects. The moistness of a cake, the flavor of the ice cream as it melts in your mouth, the crispy beignet as you bite into its juicy jam filled center, the creaminess of cheesecake as it coats your tongue, the smooth seductive melt-in-your-mouth texture of chocolate... the list goes on and on. Whatever it is. It should be so delectable that it makes you get out of bed in the middle of the night.

Bon appétit!
