Information
Physical Description
Gala apples are small and red and may have green or yellow skin portions. They are sweet and mild with a thin and soft skin. The flesh is white or pale yellow, and soft, making them better fruit for snacking than for cooking, as they may not hold up well in bakery dishes.

Selecting and Buying
Preparation and Use
Royal gala apples are great as a snack, or in apple sauce. Be sure to clean each apple very well and dry with a kitchen towel. Eat shortly after cutting, or toss with lemon juice to avoid the fruit turning brown. They are wonderful by themselves, or paired with cheese or nuts.
Conserving and Storing
Store royal gala apples in the refrigerator for long periods of time, or on kitchen counter tops for short periods of time. If apple is not yet ripe, place in paper bag until desired level of ripeness is achieved. Toss pieces of apple in lemon juice and store in tightly sealed container in the refrigerator.
