The incredibly delicious sriracha peanut butter bacon burger is a new take on the classic barbecue bacon cheeseburger. The beef patties are flavored with Southeast Asian ingredients including cilantro, soy sauce and Sriracha. They are put on a onion bun that is loaded with Sriracha barbecue sauce, creamy peanut butter and crispy bacon. Each bite is heaven. I know you might think peanut butter is a weird burger condiment, but trust me, don't knock it until you try it.
Sriracha Peanut Butter Burger
Serves 6
Ingredients:
For the patties:
1 pounds ground beef (preferably 80/20)
2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce or tamari
2 tablespoons Sriracha hot sauce (or more)
3 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon finely minced garlic
Sriracha barbecue sauce:
1/2 cup favorite barbecue sauce
1 to 2 tablespoons Sriracha hot sauce.
For the burgers:
1 package applewood smoked bacon
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
6 slices sharp cheddar cheese
Boston lettuce
onion buns
Directions:
Step 1: Combine the ground beef in a large bowl with soy sauce, Sriracha, cilantro, brown sugar and garlic. Mix everything together until all the ingredients are well incorporated. Divide the mixture up into 6 servings and form into patties. Place a small indentation at the top of the patties to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.
Step 2: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking tray with foil and place the bacon strips in an even layer on the sheet. Bake the bacon for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove from tray and allow to drain on paper towels.
Step 3: Cook the patties on medium high heat on the grill or stovetop until they have reached your desired doneness (about 10 to 12 minutes for well done). During the last minute of cooking, add the slices of cheese to melt.
Step 4: While the patties are cooking, prepare the buns. In a small bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce and sriracha. Spread the creamy peanut butter on the bottom half of the buns and the sriracha barbecue sauce on the top half. Once the patties are cooked, place them on top of the peanut butter.
Step 5: Add the remaining toppings including the bacon, lettuce and any other ingredient you might find tasty with this burger.
