Washington State Department of Agriculture, recommends against eating eggs produced by Daizen Farms of Burlington, WA.
Inspectors say the hens were produced by birds that had eaten feed containing rodent droppings. The laboratory tests confirm that the feed was contaminated with Salmonella.
Additionally, rodent droppings were observed inside an egg-washing machine while it was being used.
The single cartons are labeled with the Daizen name and customers should disguard them immediately. The 15 dozen egg flats were not marked with any branding, which was a violation of state requirements. These boxes were usually sold to Asian grocery stores and restaurants in Skagit, Snohomish, and King Counties.
Consumers are urged to ask the store where the eggs were purchased, if they have concerns.
