Talk about boosting the local economy: MSNBC is reporting that a $736,000 bluefin tuna (not shown in the photo above) was sold at the Tsukiji fish market's first auction of the year. Kiyoshi Kimura is the lucky bidder who won the 593-pound tuna; he'll sell portions from the tuna for normal prices at his restaurant chain, Sushi-Zanmai.
"Japan has been through a lot last year due to the disaster," said Kimura. "Japan needs to hang in there. So I tried hard myself and ended up buying the most expensive one." For another record-breaking creation, check out this 1.5-mile sushi roll.
