Spam

No one knows exactly what is in SPAM, though it it believed to be made of pork products (the label says chopped pork shoulder meat with ham meat added, salt, water, sugar, and sodium nitrite for color). Originally marketed as Hormel Spiced Ham, SPAM was the first meat product not to require refrigeration, making it a popular choice with the military and people in remote areas. Hawaii is a prime example: Hawaii resident eat more SPAM than any other population, on average 12 cans per person per year.
