Wine Infographic: Put Down the Latte, Pick Up Some Alsace Riesling

June 25, 2013

Riesling is always a sweet wine, right? With apologies to John McLaughlin, I have one word to say about that notion: "WRONG!" But the stigma of sweetness still haunts Riesling. Fortunately, the good folks at Wines of Alsace have put together an informative infographic to correct the error of your ways regarding Riesling from this picturesque wine region in Northeast France. See how dry the most popular Alsace Rieslings are, not just technically, but also when compared to popular drinks such as a latte, soda, or juice. And although you may not enjoy 750ml of each non-alcoholic beverage in one sitting (OK, I might when it comes to coffee), it's an interesting perspective to redefine what you call sweet. Let's reconsider Riesling, one of the world's most versatile and drinkable wines!

So true - you can pair so many different dishes with a glass of chilled Riesling. We are excited to see that California is producing more and more French-Style Rieslings.
