Jackfruit Paayasam

Ingredients

200 grams Jaggery
6 Cardamom pods
1 tablespoon Ghee
2 tumblers Water : 2 Tumblers

Preparation

Break Coconut into two pieces and grate both the pieces into powder (flower like). Drop into a Mixer and pour one tumbler of water and grind it for 20 seconds. Take the grinded coconut and squeeze in a vessel and keep it separately. Put the coconut remains in the mixer, pour half a tumbler of water, squeeze it in another vessel and keep separately. Again take the residues of coconut and pour half a tumbler of water, squeeze in another vessel and keep separately.

Cut the Pieces of Jackfruit into small pieces, put in a vessel, powder the jaggery or put as it is and pour two tumblers of water and boil it. Kindle while boiling till it becomes pulp like jam. Pour the coconut milk finally extracted on the pulp and kindle it. After 5 minutes of boiling, leave the secondly extracted coconut milk on the pulp and kindle it. After 5 minutes of boiling, switch of the oven. Now leave the firstly extracted coconut milk and kindle nicely.

Take a pan, pour the ghee and fry the Cashew, Dry grape and Cardamom for some seconds and mix. Now the Jackfruit Paayasam is ready to serve.

Jackfruit payasam is called 'Chakka Pradhaman' in Malayalam. It is a very popular dessert in Kerala. Rare dish for us the Tamilians. Thanks a lot.

This type of paayasam is prepared and used only in Kerala. It is a very tasty and lip smacking one Jackfruit is called in India Palapazham. So we call it as Palapazham Paayasam. I serve this to my guests regularly.
