Senate Bean Soup

Ingredients

2 cups dry Navy beans
3 qts. water
Ham bone and meat
3 onions chopped
1 bunch celery chopped fine including tops
1 clove garlic minced
1/2 cup parsley chop fine
Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

Put soaked beans, ham bone and meat and water in soup kettle. Simmer for 2 hours. Add mashed potatoes, stir well. Add onions, celery, garlic and parsley. Simmer 1 more hour. Remove ham bone. Season to taste.
