Batata Poha/ Pauva ( Beaten Rice With Potato)

Ingredients

2 cups Poha (beaten rice)
1 Potato medium size
1 Onion medium size
10 pieces Peanut (optional)
10 pieces Cashews (optional)
10 pieces Raisin (optional)
4 leafs Curry leaves
3 teaspoons Sugar
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon Mustard seed
1 teaspoon Cumin seed
1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
2 teaspoons Lemon juice
Cilantro for garnishing
of asafetida

Preparation

Wash the poha under tap water in a bowl and transfer it to a sieve ( so the water can drain out properly) and keep it aside

Heat the oil in pan and add mustard seed and let it splutter. After the mustard seeds start crackling add cumin seed and asafetida

Add Cashews, Raisin, Peanut and curry leaves stir for half a minute .

Sauté onion into this oil mixture and let it turn light golden brown.

Add potato and cook it for about 4-5 min or until potato cooked completely

Now add poha into this potato and onion mixture. Add salt and sugar and mix very gently.

Cook it on medium flame for 5 min and in between stir one or two time to mix everything together.

Squeeze lemon juice, garnish with cilantro and serve hot.
