Dark and Decadent Coffee Stout Brownies

We already known that coffee and chocolate and delicious and beer and chocolate are a match made in food heaven so you know that when you combine all three flavors, it is going to be something spectacular.  These homemade brownies are rich, moist and excellent with a wee cup of Bailey's or ice cold milk. If you are a chocoholic, you can swap out the regular cocoa powder for black cocoa powder, which has a deeper, more intense chocolate flavor.

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 1/2 ounces semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup cooled Green Mountain Coffee® Breakfast Blend coffee
4 large eggs, at room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed light brown sugar
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips


Step 1: Place a rack in the center of the oven and preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter and flour a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Set aside.

Step 2: In a medium bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Slowly melt the chocolate in a glass bowl in the microwave, checking it at 20 second intervals. In a small frying pan over medium heat, melt the butter until it starts to bubble slightly and turn brown. Pour the brown butter mixture into the melted chocolate and whisk together. Continue to whisk and add the cold coffee.

Step 3: In a standing mixer, mix together the eggs and sugars, add the chocolate mixture and combine completely. Add the flour mixture to the standing mixture slowly. Once fully mixed, slowly fold in the chocolate chips.

Step 4: Pour into the baking dish and bake for 40-45 minutes or until the edges are firm and the center is set. Allow to cool completely before cutting.
