5 Pink Treats in Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 5, 2014

A pop of pink at the dessert table is always a pleasant sight to see.  Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, we wanted to share some of our favorite rosy recipes to honor it.  These tasty pink treats will help you raise awareness no matter where you go.

Pink Lemonade Cupcakes
Recipe from A Spicy Perspective

Cupcakes are always a winner and these pink lemonade cupcakes are no different. Sweet, tangy, and delicious, these pink lemonade cupcakes are bursting with citrus flavor.  A mild vanilla cupcake is topped with a homemade lemon frosting to create the perfect balance between tart and sweet.  Lemon wedge gummy candies add an adorable decorative touch.

Pink Candy Apples
Recipe from Rose Bakes

Candy apples and fall go hand in hand so why not make a pink version for Breast Cancer Awareness Month?  You can make candy apples any color of the rainbow and pink is especially pretty.  To make them even more dramatic, you could paint them with disco duct or luster dust (found in the cake decorating section of the craft store) or drizzle them with candy melts.

Pink Pinwheel Sugar Cookies
Recipe from Just a Taste

Pink pinwheel sugar cookies are a simple treat that everyone will love.  Pink and white sugar cookie are layered, rolled together and sliced into rounds.  To keep with the pink theme, the dough logs are rolled in pink and white sprinkles.  You could do the same thing with pink sanding sugar too.

Pink Rose Ombre Cake
Recipe from B's in the Kitchen

This stunning pink ombre is a wonderful dessert for any occasion.  The ombre effect is complete from the inside out.  The cake layers coordinate with the buttercream roses.  To create a buttercream rose, start in the middle and make a circle with the buttercream, drawing it outwards. Once you have a complete circle, trace the outside again with more buttercream until a rose forms.

Pink Swirl Cake Pops
Recipe from Niner Bakes

These pink swirl cake pops are easier to make than you think.  You can make cake pops out of any flavored cake but if you're sticking with the pink theme, I would go with pink lemonade, pink velvet, or a vanilla cake with pink food coloring added.  The swirled effect using sanding sugar makes these cake pops stand out and sparkle.
