Few things are quite as appetizing as a fresh-baked scone first thing in the morning, but these little buggers kick it up a notch above even that.
Packed with bell peppers and sausage in every bite, these tasty morsels are a great way to start the day.
Ingredients:
8 oz. pork sausage
1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup green onion (scallions)
1 tsp. fresh thyme leaves
2 cups all purpose flour
1 Tb. baking powder
1 Tb. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 stick cold butter (1/2 cup)
2 cold eggs
1/2 cup cold heavy cream
1 cup shredded muenster cheese
1 egg white + 2 tsp water for egg wash
