Hi everyone and welcome to Nicko’s kitchen once again. Today we’ve got a favorite of just about everybody.  A lot of people go out and buy them because it’s really easy but I’m going to show you that it can be just as easy to do them at home.  It’s a great excuse to get the kids into the kitchen, to get them to start cooking.  So today we’re going to make donuts.

Alright guys, donuts, I’ve never ever, ever, ever met somebody who didn’t like a donut.  So we’re going to make them today, but we’re not going to fry them though, we’re going to bake them in the oven, okay?  We want to try and keep them as healthy as possible and like I said it’s a great excuse to get the kids into the kitchen, to get them to start cooking because they want to cook something that they’re going to enjoy as well so it’s not just for the adults, it’s also for the kids too.

So this is what you’re going to need, we’re going to need some milk, some full cream milk, you’re going to need some baking powder, you’re going to need an egg, some vanilla extract, some unsalted butter, you’re going to need some plain flour and some castor sugar and we’re also going to need some icing sugar and some sprinkles.  In Australia we call them hundreds and thousands, I don’t know what you call them but basically they’re just little candy balls like that, they’re just very tiny little bits of candied sugar like that, something that we can cover the donuts in later on.

Okay guys, first thing I’m going to do is grab a bowl and we’re just going to crack an egg into it, okay.  And we’re going to add our sugar, half a cup of castor sugar, two teaspoons of vanilla extract, that’s about two teaspoons and about 50 grams of melted butter, okay.  And what I want to do is just whisk this until everything’s combined and it becomes nice and creamy.

Okay guys, this is looking really good now, this is exactly what we want, okay, just this nice creamy texture like that.  Now, we’re going to add in our milk so we want about half a cup of milk.  So about half a cup of milk, okay, just in there like that and give that a stir as well (continue watching video).

2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup of milk
