A recent study from the European Food Safety Authority peaked the interest of the world's largest chocolate-maker, Barry Callebaut. The study showed cocoa flavanols, which typically are removed when chocolate is made, can actually help increase blood flow. According to The Daily Mail, the flavanols are extremely similar to ingredients in Viagra, but less localized.
The paper suggests that Barry Callebaut may develop the chocolate into an all-natural cure to compete sildenafil. The company has yet to comment.
