The Milkmaid machine is an intelligent pitcher that can tell you whether your milk has gone sour before you even have the chance to take a sniff. The concept was plucked from a Quirky and GE contest for software that improved everyday objects.
As far as its operation goes, the Milkmaid is filled with milk; as that milk expires, the system will take pH and temperature readings. These readings are then relayed to the base, which is an LED light that changes from green to orange. The base also detects how much milk is left and houses a rechargeable battery, SIM card, antenna and GSM radio module. When you're almost out of milk, the GSM radio module can send a text to your phone reminding you to pick up fresh milk.
