The Phenomenon S/S 12 collection shown at Tokyo Fashion Week featured an unusual menswear twist: candy-coated sleeves. Designer Takeshi Osumi was inspired by Japanese ceramics when creating this edible beading, and it produced what Susie of Style Bubble called "a head-turning reaction" on the catwalk.
Other food-inspired items made their way into the Phenomenon S/S 12 collection. Osumi used oshima tsumugi silk in a few of his pieces; the traditional textile uses a glue made of seaweed and some 20 steps during the dying process. Here's a close-up look at the candy-coated sleeves:
