Bad news fellow potato chip lovers. Researchers have released a study that lays out foods associated with weight gain by the pound, and potato chips are the ultimate trunk-junker. Over time, there is no other food more fattening than potato chips.
The findings were released in the New England Journal of Medicine and identify other foods associated with weight gain including potatoes, sugared drinks and processed and unprocessed red meats.
The average non-obese person gains about 3.35 pounds over four years. You can add 1.69 pounds per daily serving of potato chips to the 3.35.
The foods most associated with weight loss over a four-year period inlcude yogurt, nuts, fruits, whole grains and vegetables.
