The Kilchoman distillery has released the first 100% Islay whisky. The whisky was made from barley grown in Islay, and all aspects of the production from malting to distillation occurred on the Scottish isle, making it a truly local product. (Barley for Islay malts is usually brought in from mainland Scotland.) The limited editon liquor was aged in a mix of used oloroso sherry and bourbon barrels, and will retail for $112.
