Fast food is as American as a drive-thru, two-for-a-dollar apple pie. And immigrants are increasingly eating more and more fast food to try and fit in with American culture. It also helps that fast food is cheap and easy to find.
In fact, kids of immigrants who have lived in the U.S. for more than 15 years are more prone to obesity that American-born kids.
"Immigrants who eat American are consuming, on average, 182 extra calories and seven additional grams of saturated fat compared to immigrants who stick to their traditional diet, leaving the fast-food immigrants more likely to become obese and suffer chronic illnesses related to obesity," AFP reports.
Welcome to America!
