Starting out the year right is part of everyone’s resolutions right? Lose weight, get organized, clean the closet, stop procrastinating, be a better wife/husband/sister/brother/friend.

“Welcome Christmas, bring your cheer. Cheer to all Whos far and near. Christmas Day is in our grasp, so long as we have hands to clasp. Christmas day will always be just as long as we have we. Welcome Christmas while we stand, heart to heart and hand in hand.“ - Dr. Seuss, The Grinch

Happy New Year! Bubbles aren't just for New Year's Eve of course, in fact in my book they're for every day (bit of an obsession), especially when topping a fabulous cocktail.

The funnest part of Christmas dinner is making things you wouldn’t normally eat. Holidays are times to go gourmet. In the first three posts in this five-part series, we shared fabulous recipes for Goat Cheese Pops Rolled in Pecans, Herbs, and Bacon.

My (favorite ;) ) aunt is a really big fan of this holiday goodness, so we decided to make some Eierlikör from scratch last week. It turned out really delicious and gave us a little buzz while giving it a taste (or two).

This refreshing beverage will have you lounging in a lush imaginary spa in moments. Pineapple Sugarcane Water quenches, hydrates, and puts your mind at ease. Welcome 2012! I am SO glad you’re here.

This drink is probably one of the prettiest drinks I’ve ever made. Not just because it’s in a martini glass (which automatically makes everything prettier), but it’s also pink, layered, has a sugar rim, and has a cherry in it. That’s just the perfect recipe for a pretty drink. It’s also really simple to make.

Another year has gone by and I have that feeling I always have on December 31st: that surreal, mind-boggling, how-in-the-world-is-this-year-already-over??? feeling.

Put the the lime and orange cut in wedges in a Mojito glass (or if your muddler does not fit the Mojito glass like mine, do this in a separate bowl). Crush the lime and orange together to release their juices.

For the past several years, this right here has been our Christmas Eve tradition. After the family celebratin’ is all celebrated out and we’re back at home, warm in our PJ’s and cuddling with our sweet puppies, we whip up a batch of some kind of hot liquefied chocolate.

I usually buy enough booze for at least 3 batches, because the glasses aren’t overly sweet so they go down smooth and easy. Keep in mind when preparing the drink that the recipe calls for the main ingredients minus the champagne to be chilled for at least 4 hours prior drinking, keeping it nice and chilly with no ice cube dilution.

A party is not complete without booze. I still remember the drink I prepared for my first house warming party was a Bellini, prepared with peach puree and champagne. I was not totally into cooking then but still managed to wow my guests with curry chicken and beef rendang prepared with Prima pre-mixed paste....

When I was offered a sample bottle of Bärenjäger Honey Liqueur through Virtual Potluck, of course I said "yes." I like honey.

It makes use of everything wintry and worth celebrating: pomegranate (both the juice and the arils), mint leaves for a pop of festive color, Meyer lemons – which are seasonal and wonderful, and champagne – a celebration in itself.

Champagne cocktails are so 60s and glamorous and I love them so I made some girly drinks for Christmas which were pretty and tasted lovely.

Can you believe it? Luckily all my shopping is done and all I have left to do is help cook, bake and prepare the Christmas Eve and Christmas morning menu! Which, to me, sounds perfect! Plus, my darling cousin is in culinary school and he’s going to teach me his fabulous ways of cooking!

2 oz Midnight Moon Strawberry over ice with a splash of sweet tea.

Its quite possibly the richest cocoa I have ever made. And I lurve it. Its like a piece of warm chocolate cake in a cup. And could not be easier!

Now that you have your holiday menu set, your cookies baked, party outfit lined up and your hair did, time to get to the cocktails. This is one of my favorite times of the year despite whatever is going on, family will come together and we will be happy. No cranky butts allowed. Yes, I wrote that.

Poured into pretty stemware (from the Christmas Tree Shop), covered with plastic wrap and bedecked with a satin bow, these sweet gifts will be given to friends.

Do you remember when Jerry turned on all the faucets in the kitchen and then froze the floor with lines from the refrigerator? And then for a spot light he directed a light through different colors of Jello….?

I first read about (and was intrigued by) Amanda Hesser’s Hot Toddy with Dried Cherries and Lime almost a year ago. It sounded so warming and delightful…I’ve no idea why I didn’t make it right away.

This little beauty is an amazing way to end a holiday meal and share a final dinner toast to appreciate friends and family and all the many wonderful things we all have to be grateful for! Try this with Chocolate Peppermint Covered Pretzels!

Back when I got pregnant with Abbi, my goal was lose the baby weight by the time she was 6 months old. I know they always say “it takes 9 months to put it on, and it takes 9 months to take it off,” but I was determined.

Have you ever tried hot chocolate on a stick? I had this delicious hot chocolate for the first time in a small bed and breakfast in Brugge, Belgium a couple of years ago.

Ok, so this is by far one of my favourite drinks ever! Think Pomegranate Cosmopolitan mixed not with vodka but with some Prosecco! This is so Christmassy it would even get Scrooge in the mood for some festive fun!!

Sure, the alcohol is a known quantity, with the couple ounces of cognac and dark rum clocking in at about 120 calories total. And the splash of hot whole milk (the only kind you want to even consider for a Tom & Jerry), is another 20. I don’t think cloves, nutmeg and allspice have calories, so you don’t have to worry about them.

Combine mulled wine with a spiced cider and you’ll get this soothing combo sure to keep you warm all winter long.

Cocktails on the ready! If you've been following along you would have heard me refer to a few drinks a comin' and now here they are. The beauty of these is that the two above are made from the residual syrups made from previous gifts. Ginger Lime Syrup from the Candied Ginger and Cowboy Cocktail is made from the syrup of the Cowboy Candy.

Sweet, tropical, and since I love peaches ‘n cream, I figured, why not make it a peaches and coconut cream smoothie.
