Put hamburger onto a double boiler over med-high heat and steam until done, pouring off the grease frequently. Add remaining ingredients and heat additional 15 minutes, stirring often. The longer it steams the better it tastes.

Steam your buns before scooping the loose meat mixture on top, slather on a generous dose of mustard, chopped onions and a couple pickle slices.

An imitation of Maid-Rite's loose-meat sandwiches from the famous Iowa restaurant chain. Variations: Cheese-Rite... add a square of American cheese. Ham-rite sandwich is topped with a slice of steamed deli baked ham! Try topped with a few chips!
