Rice Coffee

When I was young my mother used to make coffee out of roasted rice grains because she said it was caffeine-free. Her mother taught her how to make it and said this was how the rice farmers used to make their coffee before they had access to instant coffee. She would make this in the morning and the sweet smell of rice roasting always woke me up.
You can sweeten it with honey, muscovado sugar or brown sugar.
