Beans Fava With Pasta

- 240 gram penne pasta
- 200 gram fava beans, frozen
- 1 medium onion
- 50 gram cooked ham, diced
- 2.5 tablespoons tomato sauce, ready, seasoned with basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 ladle vegetable stock
- salt
- black pepper(optional)
- red pepper(optional)
- Pecorino cheese(optional)
- Parmesan cheese(optional)
- 1 sprig fresh basil leaves(optional)
Instructions
Step 1
In a non-stick pan, heat two tablespoons of olive oil. Add the chopped onion and diced ham. Cook until the onion just begins to brown. Then, add the fava beans and a bit of vegetable stock.
Step 2
Cook the mixture for 20 minutes. Then, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of tomato sauce and mix everything for a few minutes.
Step 3
In a separate saucepan, cook the pasta in lightly salted water until al dente. Drain the cooked pasta and add it to the fava bean sauce. Stir well to combine the flavors. Season with pepper or chili and sprinkle with Pecorino or Parmesan cheese before serving.
