Ingredients

5 cups water
4 tablespoons sugar
fresh basil leaves
lots of ice
juice of 3 lemons

Preparation

For the Basil leaves, you can use as little or as much as you want. It depends on how much of the Basil flavor you'd want your lemonade to have. [I used the Basil leaves from my li'l garden.]

In a pitcher, combine sugar and Basil leaves, set aside some for garnish.

With a plastic or a wooden spoon,crush the leaves with sugar until bruised.

Pour in water and lemon juice. Stir until sugar is dissolved. You can let it stand for a few hours to infuse lemonade with the flavor of Basil or you can serve it immediately.

Pour through a strainer to strain all bruised leaves.

Add lots of ice.

Garnish with the Basil leaves you set aside before serving.

You might be wondering why I'm makin' Basil Lemonade in the middle of this chilly weather. Well, Lemonade is a favorite drink and last Summer, I've seen some posts about Basil Lemonade. I really really wanna try it back then. But why didn't I make it? I didn't think the taste would be appreciated by the people in my household. After making the Pandan[screwpine] Lemonade for Ykaie's Birthday last month, which is really delicious, by the way, and seeing that most of the party guests liked it.... I thought, why not give a try. I won't be able to please everybody, anyway. My mom and one of my aunt didn't like my Pandan Lemonade but most of the guests did.....and it felt really good.

So to satisfy my curiosity about what this tastes like, I made it this morning. I needed the citrus boost anyway, with the cough and cold and the weather that's making everybody too lazy to get up in the morning.... plus, it doesn't have a lot of ingredients...
