Grilled Figs With Blue Cheese and Citrus Honey

This recipe was entered in The Foodista Best of Food Blogs Cookbook contest, a compilation of the world’s best food blogs which was published in Fall 2010.

Ingredients

6 inches whole fresh figs (or dried and rehydrated boiling water until soft)
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
2 ounces blue cheese, crumbled

Preparation

Cut figs in half lengthwise, and then grill over medium flame until heated through and slightly softened, about 1 minute.

Mix together honey, orange juice and lemon zest and microwave for 20 seconds until honey is warmed and then drizzle over figs.

Top with blue cheese crumbles.
