Lebanese Quick Ful Medames

Ingredients

1 can Arabic brand of whole fava beans (such as Cortes)
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (Greek or other middle eastern)
1 large clove fresh garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Onion, peeled and cut up

Preparation

Heat the fava beans.

Pour olive oil into a deep plate and stir in the minced garlic.

Stir in heated fava beans, mashing some of them.

Add salt, pepper, and lemon juice.

Serve with cut up onion and pita bread.

Serve as an appetizer or for a light lunch with Mediterranean olives, scallions, feta cheese.
