Ingredients
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme leaves
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 stick butter
- 2 bay leaves
- 6 cloves garlic
- 1 10-12 pound turkey
- 1/2 teaspoon marjoram
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- olive oil
- salt and pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Rinse the turkey thoroughly and pat it completely dry with paper towels.
Step 2
Take one clove of garlic and rub it over the turkey skin. Then, rub the skin with olive oil, followed by salt and pepper.
Step 3
Stuff the turkey cavity with the bay leaves and the remaining garlic cloves.
Step 4
In a small bowl, soften the butter. Add the oregano, rubbed sage, thyme leaves, 1 teaspoon pepper, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, marjoram, and dried basil to the softened butter. Mix all ingredients thoroughly to combine.
Step 5
Place 1 tablespoon of the prepared butter and herb mixture into the turkey cavity.
Step 6
Carefully separate the turkey meat from the skin and place the remaining butter and herb mixture underneath the skin, directly onto the meat, spreading it evenly.
Step 7
Place the prepared turkey on a baking pan lined with aluminum foil.
Step 8
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake the turkey until it is fully cooked, noting that the cooking time will vary depending on the turkey's weight.
