Italian Gravy

Ingredients
3 tablespoons oil
1 whole onion
3 lg. cans plump whole Italian tomatoes
1 lg. can crushed tomatoes
2 teaspoons sugar
1 1/2 cups Italian bread crumbs
3 pounds sausage
2 pounds spare ribs
2 cans tomato paste
1 tablespoon oil
4 paste cans full of water
Preparation

Put 3 tablespoons oil in bottom of 5 quart pot. Cut up whole onion and brown. Remove onion. Take 3 large cans plump whole Italian tomatoes and puree in blender. Then add 1 large can crushed tomatoes and pour into pot. Add sugar and spices to taste. Let simmer on real low flame. Mix meatballs with beef, veal, pork mix and add eggs, bread crumbs, and spices. Mix well. Shape into balls and fry. Set aside.
