The purple corn - called also black corn in El salvador- is placed in a dish to soak, grind the next day with a "metate" ( the mexican grindstone ) , then cook it with water in the traditional way.

Pumpkin seeds are toasted and grinded after, they will become a paste once the powder is diluted in water. .

Boil the beans in water with salt. When the gruel is ready, is served in a cup or platter, add two or three tablespoons of cooked beans and also a quantity of seed paste to taste, chili., Salt and lime if desired.
