Grilled Brown - Sugar Pork Chops

Ingredients

1/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup apple juice
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
Salt and freshly ground
Black pepper to taste
1 teaspoon cornstarch
6 boneless loin pork chops

Preparation

Start fire in grill, placing rack about 6 inches above coals.

Prepare sauce: When coals are almost ready (medium hot), in 2 quart saucepan, combine brown sugar, apple juice, oil, soy sauce, ginger, salt, and pepper. Bring to boil over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. In small bowl, stir 1/4 cup water into cornstarch to dissolve. Add to mixture. Return to boil, stirring. When mixture is slightly thickened, remove from heat. Prepare pork. Grill pork

Note: If desired, pork may be broiled. Heat broiler; broil chops 6 inches from heat source 5 minutes until almost cooked through, turning once. Brush with sauce; broil 2 minutes longer.
