"Breaking the Bottle" by Mark Reigelman II is an exhibition currently running at the Heller Gallery in New York City that features home decor made out of shattered glass. Reigelman used some 40 layers of recycled glass to create the pieces, which added up to about 1,000 pounds, and sealed the pieces with 20 gallons of epoxy resin.
"My installation debates the need for fervent homestead defense while pointing out the repercussions of overprotection and the impact it has on social dialogue," said Reigelman. Design Milk reports that the white platform on which the objects sit has the same dimensions as the home in which the artist grew up.
