Canned foods already have a bit of a poor impression on most people, no doubt due to the often questionable nature of their contents when opened.
In fact, the only really 'widespread' canned food that's consumed in the U.S is soups, and even then those are on the decline in favor of plastic cups.
However, perhaps we should all take a moment to step back and look at the majority of our canned goods, and thank god that it's not as bad as whatever Huitlacoche is.
