Rice Soup

Ingredients
4 cups water
1/4 cup chicken broth, soup base or bouillon cube
1/2 cup rice
1 small carrot, cut fine
dash pepper
basil, to taste
Preparation

Bring water and broth to a boil, then add rice and carrot, pepper and basil and simmer covered for 10 to 15 minutes or until rice and carrot are cooked. Leave it set before eating.

About
Rice soup is served for breakfast in some parts of the world but makes an appetizing starter or dinner. Add shredded chicken for a more substantial meal.
