Honey Crisp Crunch Top Apple Pie

Ingredients
(modified from Paula Deen’s recipe at www.foodnetwork.com)
Ingredients for filling:
2 doughs for a 9- inch pie
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
of salt
5 Honey Crisp apples, peeled and sliced thinly
14 oz unsweetened applesauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Ingredients for crunch topping:
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon brown sugar
of salt
1 tablespoon of room temp butter
Preparation

Line the pie pan with dough

Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt

Add in apples, applesauce and lemon juice

Spoon the mixture into the pie pan

Top the pie with the other dough, either making your own designs or criss-crossing

Make the crunch topping by mixing together all ingredients with a fork until crumbly and then sprinkle over the crust

Bake at 425 for 10 minutes, then reduce to 350 and bake for 45 minutes or until the crust is a golden brown
