Ground Cherry and Tomatillo Salsa

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups tomatillos
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/2 cup cilantro leaves
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon cumin
salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

Remove husks from the tomatillos and ground cherries; rinse well.

Cut the tomatillos in half and place cut-side down on a foil-lined baking sheet.

Place under the broiler until the skins are lightly blackened.

Combine the tomatillos, ground cherries, onion, cilantro, garlic, lime juice, sugar, jalapenos and cumin in a food processor and pulse to desired consistency.

Season with salt and pepper.
