Triticale (trit-ih-KAY-lee) is a hybrid of wheat and rye. The name is a combination of the word triticum - for wheat and secale for rye. Triticale grain is larger than wheat and it has a higher protein content.
It has a pleasant wheat like flavor and is prized for its ability to grow in poor soils.
