Easy Sichuan Pepper Beef Stir-Fry

Skip Chinese takeout tonight and bring out the wok. This easy beef stir-fry recipe takes just minutes to make (faster than delivery) and is a dinner the whole family will love. Fragrant spices, savory beef and crisp veggies make this dish a winner!

Sichuan Pepper Beef
Serves 4

1-inch piece fresh ginger, grated
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 tablespoon Shaoxing rice wine or dry sherry
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
2 teaspoons crushed Sichuan peppercorns (without seeds)
1 pound beef tenderloin steak
3 tablespoons peanut or vegetable oil
1 onion, thinly sliced
1/2 green bell pepper, seeded and thinly sliced
1/2 red bell pepper, seeded and thinly sliced

Mix together the ginger, garlic, rice wine, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, five-spice powder, and peppercorns in a wide, nonmetallic bowl.

Thinly sliced the steak into medallions and add to the bowl, turning to coat in the marinade. Cover and let marinate for 30 minutes.

Heat the oil in a wok and stir-fry the beef fro 1-2 minutes to brown. Remove and keep to one side.

Add the onion and bell peppers and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Add the beef with any marinade juices and stir to heat evenly.

Serve immediately.
