Master Mixologist Michael MacDonnell Teaches the Art of Cocktail-Making

April 30, 2013

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of visiting Las Vegas to experience the M life -- a loyalty rewards program from MGM and their many partners. Card holders are given the opportunity to experience what they call "M life Moments." These moments include a variety of Sin City experiences, including private spa treatments, picking a song for The Fountains of Bellagio at Hyde Bellagio, and learning the art of making the perfect cocktail with Master Mixologist Michael MacDonnell.

MacDonnell is the Director of Beverage for the Monte Carlo resort in Las Vegas. He was on hand at Hit Bar and Lounge to teach us how to make three classic cocktails -- Mai Tai, Blood and Sand and the Sidecar. My takeaway from the lesson is scotch can actually taste great when paired with the right ingredients (Blood and Sand), and always shake your drink with a big smile.
