After finding fame through Glee, Lea Michele became a vegan to help energize her body for long rehearsals, shoots and tours. After a noticeable weight loss, Michele says she does miss eating some meat dishes but has been able to alternate meat ingredients for tofu and veggies.
She says she missed eating meat lasagna the most, with layers of meat and cheese. But with the help of her mom, she has found a vegan alternative.
"My favorite dish has always been lasagna and my mum taught me how to make the vegan version by swapping the beef and cheese for soy and tofu," Michele said.
Aside from finding more energy, Michele says she also became a vegan because she loves animals.
"I'm a vegan for many reasons, one being my love of animals. I'm an active member of PETA and I don't wear fur. I've also found sticking to a meat-free diet has given me more energy."
For breakfast, Michele will usually eat a tofu scramble with soy cheese while her lunch and dinner tends to consist of salads filled with tons of vegetables.
