Legislators in Minnesota, Florida, and Iowa have proposed legislation that would make it illegal to take photos or videos of farms. The movement to expose bad farming practices has been succeeding and Big Ag. is not happy. Slow Food USA has a petition to urge legislators not to go through with these laws.
“A well-managed farm has nothing to hide,” said Slow Food USA president Josh Viertel. “We have a right to see the story behind the food we eat and the food we feed to our children. We need more transparency, not less." It's clear that the citizens of our country are getting more connected to where their food comes from. We need to encourage this process rather than keeping food production shrouded in a veil of secrecy.
