UJi Films has made an important new documentary called Lunch Line. It covers the history of the school lunch program and follows six Chicago high school kids as they set out to fix school lunches and end up at the White House.
The film has sparked a lively debate among parents, students, corporations, and politicians. Many parents are working to reform the system and bring children edible and nourishing food. Who doesn't remember that awful mystery meat or the cardboard pizza? Even though I am firmly in the camp that we are well past the time where we should be feeding the children of this country a healthy and nutritiouslunch, For many kids in lower income areas, that mystery meat may be all that's nourishing them.
The system clearly needs an overhaul as there needs to be better options than children going hungry or eating really low quality food. These are the future of our world and they should be appropriately nourished!
